The Wall Street Journal. App Reviews

Reader 76543

This is a great publication but they need to get the basics right. I used to open the app and receive, go to latest addition, and within a short time would be reading the paper. Now I spend far too much time just trying to get to the latest edition. I am not sure what is wrong but this did not used to be a problem. Im almost ready to go back to the paper version.

Word definitions

I might be wrong on this, a preference setting or something, but in another prominent app for a New York City publication, holding your finger on a word renders a definition. Check it out WSJ!

Worst app for iPhone

No daily paper view, never updates, so constantly reviewing days old news. Works much better on the iPad.

Great paper, improved app

The WSJ app is as close to reading the print edition as I need...the newer version is easier to navigate and adds digital features.

Worse update

The new update for iOS 8 is WORSE for iPhone. Its visually and functionally worse. The update progress circle is gone. My articles only update if I delete and reinstall!!??!! How could it be so bad? And were paying through the nose for this?

Bad! Not support "lookup" function

The latest version doesnt support "lookup" function!!(press a word for a second and will direct to dictionary) this function is very handy!! Pleased fix the bug and make it work in next release, wsj team!!

Better than Ice Cream

I really enjoy my daily WSJ. I go there first for all my news. I read the WSJ, then I move to others. You have the stories and the facts a day or two before most others. I have read WSJ for years, and now digitally. The Opinion Page is better that a bowl of ice cream for me........really!!!! Dan McNamara

Good but not Great

Solid viewer but missing scroll (up/down) on articles. It only moves right to left.

horrible app with political slants hidden inside faulty analysis

This 7 year relationship is over. The WSJ was the best news content and highly respected by my peers and customers. It is too bad that the application providers responsible for this Newsstand WSJ content are unaware of the demands and expectations of WSJ readers. Reading these reviews helps me to identify with other reviewers who agree that the content is ( used to be) worth multiple crashes . I like the way the app crashes and returns me to the beginning. ( fixed - but now is hard worth finishing the article!!) It allows me to ...oops....time to restart....see the main story over and over again like a 1st grader. You have to admire the patience of the WSJ ( readers now) writers and editors with the interns ( they have moved on to better workplaces) who manage the app. The ads are even worse with poor graphics and little respect for the readers interest.

WSJ iPad App

Loving this app - easy to navigate and use on my iPad Air. My only complaint is that I cant install it on my old iPad. I didnt have the old version so I cant compare, but this is great. Works great on my iPhone 6 too. Wish the subscription was a bit cheaper though. I also wish you could see comments that are posted on articles :(

A Good App

Easy to use and works with very few glitches.

The old app was much better.only fix when broken!

GReat content but takes far too long to launch

Excellent way to read the paper, Poor update tho

Once I get the right version, it works very well. Have to page back several times to get the newest edition. (Used to start with an edition question, but that seems to be gone.) Also wish I could share an article once in a while, but they always need subscriptions to read. Finally, why did you delete the ability to look up words?

Great Job.

This version actually loads quickly, especially updating to current news. My first choice in checking both opinion and latest news. Though annual subscription is not inexpensive, I think its well worth it. And this iPad app makes it even better.

Special Articles

Love app overall but I am apple itunes subscriber and sometimes I do not have access to special articles with video and am asked to sign in again and it does not work

Wonderful Paper

Great newspaper. Covers wide spectrum of issues with solid information!

Sloooooooooooow

Slow. Uses lots of space. Slow. Comment system non existent. Did I mention: Slow?

Great news app

I like WSJ but the app could be slightly better. It may not be apps fault but I loose track of the article Im reading by accidentally swiping across to another article. Otherwise a solid news app.

Two thumbs up!

Great app.

Forced update is a mess. Crashing crashing crashing

After being forced to update in order to read the paper I find that the app is working very poorly. When I first open the app and click on any article, the app crashes. When you pull down the menu in any section that has the list of all the articles and try to click on any one of them the app crashes. If you change pages from time to time the app crashes Whenever I change pages and theres a graphic on the page it flashes numerous times before it finally displaying which is annoying and distracting. And one of my favorites is sometimes when you click on a picture that leads to an article The article comes up and tells you must be a subscriber in order to read it
