Once again, the designers have improved the app by making it more difficult to use. This time they have changed the font so that it is lighter with less contrast -- and more difficult to read. Who cares about that, the aesthetics are great. Pure genius.
Cant open app. Please fix this "update".
Great content. Has been stable lately.
App crashes immediately on opening.
Since the latest update I cant open my WSJ
It does not open. It crashes!!!!
Just crashes on iPhone 6S. Fix!
Thanks wsj!!
The "upgrade" tires time to load stories and I do not think the new typeface is as readable. Who reviews this stuff before it goes live?
Pleased to see layout, performance and media integration improvements. Very intuitive and improved interface. Dont see the issue of story refresh delay that was present before. Im a fan of the content and the presentation.
The first paper I read each morning is the Journal on my iPad, and what a disappointing way to start the day with the new fonts and color scheme. Knowing you cant please everyone, I wish there was a choice. I would go back to the old design in a heartbeat. I feel as if Im in a childs nursery reading one of my grandkids books. Ive shifted over to the online version which doesnt have a washed out color scheme and wispy fonts. I guess the Journal is searching for a new reader demographic. Its clear you dont want anyone over 60 using the iPad app.
When is WSJ going to fix their iPad and iPhone apps so they function reliably. The iPad app frequently removes the header used for navigation and font size. The iPhone app almost always tells you its up to date when, in fact,it is not. Without a doubt the worst apps on my iPad and iPhone are the WSJ apps. Unlike the WSJ app, the New York Times app works well.
This application is STILL not updated to the resolution of the 12.9 iPad Pro. It has been over six months now with no change. Makes no sense and looks terrible on the screen. Might as well just use the website in Safari and save from downloading the application.
I am so glad that this app is available to deliver the Wall Street Journal to me. I admit to being something of a Luddite because I was unhappy when you started putting photos, and then putting color photos, on the front page. And then you shrink the size of the print edition. But, sadly, I realize the time marches on and things must change. I have had no problems with the app refreshing, and while occasionally its a little slow loading an ad, my main complaint is how repetitive they are. There are great many other advertisers in the print version, and perhaps we could see some of them in black-and-white or whatever. I guess the thing that I miss most is getting ink on my fingers; fortunately I can still pick up the print edition on those occasions.
The App is great and the notifications are always just what Im interested in. Great job, I should have subscribed 15 years ago.
Just wrote a full review, and then it would not load. The WSJ ap gets worse and worse. It does not automatically download, frequently crashes, is very slow and freezes. I often have to tap on each article to get it to download so I can read it when offline. I use other newspaper aps that function flawlessly and have much smoother user interfaces. It is difficult to understand how a sophisticated operation such as Dow Jones an tolerate such a weak application to deliver their product.
The latest round of improvements have really increased readability, I just really dont like the new color scheme. At all. Id like it changed or have color options. But overall, the app is really improved.
Still the best quality financial read.
The WSJ has some of the best reporting and articles in the news industry. However there app could be better. For instance, if I click in my notifications center on an article, rather than take me directly to such article, it will take me to the overview section which might not even have such article in it.
